ST. EMMANUEL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH

Parent Body (Our Origin):
MT. Ararat Baptist Church 1800 Velasco Houston, Texas Organizer, Rev. Charles Henry Jones and other charter members of the Little Zion Baptist Church-now known as Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church .. Rev. Jones served as pastor from 1920- 1935.

our history

1921 -

The church relocated to it's present site, 2318 Sampson.

1935 -

Rev. J. S. Brown and his church merged with Mt.Ararat, and he renamed her St. Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church.He served until 1946.

1946 -

Rev. Calvin Scott Sr. became pastor.

1961 -

The current structure was erected.

1973 -

Rev. Calvin Scott Sr. passed. Rev. A. C. Crawford served as interim pastor.

1985 -

Rev. 0 J. Fontenot served as pastor.

1986 -

Rev. Dwaine Sanders officiated and was elected pastor 2/11/86. He remained so until 4/94.

1994 -

We were introduced to Rev. Leon D. Jackson who was appointed our overseer by Moderator, M. L. Jackson of the South Texas District Association. Rev. Leon Jackson was elected pastor by a unanimous vote on 8/30/94, and was officially installed 10/30/94.

Our Mission

Our major focus will continue to be on evangelism, both at home and abroad.

The Word of God is Our Guide, and the Bible is the manuel by which we live. We will share God's laws, love, and promises with members family and friends, and community. Our major focus will continue to be on evangelism, both at home and abroad. We will:

Sister Gibson has agreed to be liason to STDA for Saint Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church. She has returned as Ministry Leader for 2019 - 2020. She's asking for support from all members as you have done in the past.
